Volunteering

The most basic need we have for volunteers is for Front of House (FOH) for shows. This involves ushering, selling concessions, and (for some events) selling wine & beer. We usually ask for TWO volunteers for a regular theatrical performance, and a third for the wine/beer sales.

Please ask about our Training Sessions for House Manager and Box Office positions. We hold them every few months. Once you have taken the training, we welcome you to sign up for those positions.

 

Please do NOT sign up unless you have taken the training, or you have clearance from us for on-the-job training.

Please also note that wine/beer sales volunteers must have taken the California Alcohol & Beverage Control Responsible Beverage Service certification (https://www.abc.ca.gov/education/rbs) and provide their certification number.

All volunteers get a FREE SEAT to the performance, although be aware that if the performance is sold out, that seat may end being a folding chair with limited view, and obviously we ask that you sit close to the lobby to be ready promptly at intermission.

Signing up can be done on-line. Just go to the event's page on the website and scroll all the way to the bottom. You will see three or four buttons which will take you to the separate sign-up website pages for House Manager, Box Office, FOH, and Wine/Beer Sales (if we are doing those for the production in question). Enter your name and email and phone number and we will contact you nearer the event to confirm.

 

During the run-up to productions, we also often need volunteers for set building and especially painting. Once tech starts, we also need volunteers for backstage assistance during the shows, as well as tech roles such as follow-spot operators. Many of these roles are great for teens looking for community volunteer credits.
