A Case of Libel

By Henry Denker
Directed by Ron Nash
Produced by Brenda Weidner
A Case of Libel was written in
1963, inspired by the real-life
courtroom battle between
journalists Quentin Reynolds and
Westbrook Pegler. One liberal
news correspondent returns from
World War II after performing
heroically, only to be
characterized as a drunkard and a
Communist sympathizer by an
ultraconservative columnist. A
libel suit ensues with a surprise
verdict based upon contradictory
writings. An intriguing and
thoughtful play for the Winter.
