The Last Five Years premiered in 2001 and has been produced successfully Off-Broadway and internationally since then. The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hyatt, a struggling actress. Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of the marriage), and Jamie's is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have first met). The characters interact in the middle as their timelines intersect. Julianne Thompson and Robert Dornaus sing this very popular mix of pop, jazz and classical, including "Shiksa Goddess", "Moving Too Fast", "The Next Ten Minutes", and "I Can Do Better Than That." Lucas Sherman directs the music and performs the show. One weekend only, January 12-15, 2012, at the NTC Playhouse in Novato.
