The NTC takes 6 San Francisco Bay Area Theater Critic's Circle Awards at the Awards Gala at the California Ballroom in Oakland on May 6, 2013.

NTC received 10 nominations in various categories for "Noises Off" and "Nunsense," both directed by Carl Jordan. Carl received a best director's award for "Noises Off" and best choreographer for "Nunsense." Frank Sarubbi took the award for best lighting design for "Noises Off," and three actresses, Dani Innocenti-Beem, Debra Harvey, and Pamela Drummer-Williams all took best actress awards for "Nunsense." NTC received their first SFBATCC nominations for "Urinetown" directed by Kim Bromley in 2009, and it's been the right kind of uphill since then, to present increasingly more professional productions for subscribers and patrons. Congratulations to all of the Nominees and to the Winners!

WE'VE PURCHASED REAL THEATER SEATS!

To all of NTC supporters, here are the theater seats you bought for yourself over a year ago. We thank you for making this possible. There will not be risers right away, as the ADA codes require ramps or elevators will have to wait until a later phase. Phase I - building the new “stage” and setting the chairs down in a staggered fashion. Phase II - putting up walls, defining the lobby area, building a dressing room, and a light/sound booth.

To present quality theater to Bay Area audiences and offer theatrical training and mentoring opportunities in a creative and supportive environment.

What's in a Name?
For the Novato Theater Company, the answer is easy. Talent. Energy. Dedication. Backed by over 90 years of history, we are committed to providing outstanding community theatre to the San Francisco Bay Area.

We have our origins in 1919, as a section of the Novato Improvement Club. In 1947, we were incorporated as a non-profit corporation under the title of Novato Community, Inc.--better known as the Novato Community Players! In 2004 we changed our name to "Novato Theater Company". Our previous theater was built as part of the Novato Community House in 1924. In 2006 we finished construction of our next theater, the "Novato Theater Company Playhouse". We left that theater in 2012 and now in 2013 we are in the process of constructing our new theater at 5420 Nave Drive in Novato.

Today, the NTC draws casts and audiences from all over the San Francisco Bay Area, who enjoy our quality productions.


Great Reviews On-Stage and Off!

Both in front of the spotlight and at any of our social functions, our year is a busy one. On stage, we offer five full-length productions each season. Off stage, we enjoy a summer picnic, our annual installation dinner for newly elected officers, a Holiday party, and, of course, those fun-filled after-rehearsal and cast parties!

Presbyterian Church of Novato

Presbyterian Church of Novato is located at 710 Wilson Avenue in Novato. Auditions and rehearsals are sometimes held in the building behind the church. Click here for a map to the church.



People


The Players

Our members have a diversity of experience with the theatre. Their abilities encompass acting, dancing, singing, directing, stage managing, and much, much more! Over the years, we've watched both novice and experienced alike learn and develop with the NTC.

Membership meetings are held quarterly and are open to the public. Along with discussing business, new members are introduced and social activities are planned. The membership further participates in functions through committees such as Technical, Playreading, and Site Improvement. Dues are paid annually, and members receive a copy of our monthly newsletter, The Prompter.

Our seven-member Board of Directors is elected from the general membership each April. They oversee and participate in the decision-making process.
